We also enjoyed the insights he offered of life in East Germany before reunification. Manfred was a fount of information about the history and present of the city. With only four of us on the tour, there was plenty of opportunity for questions. As with St Petersburg, the balance was well thought out with a walk around Warnemunde to begin with, then a train and tram ride to the centre of Rostock. Not only was his English superb but he arranged things so that we were in the great church in the hanseatic city of Rostock well before noon so that we could see and hear the great astronomical clock chime and see the figures of the apostles move. Again, we could not have been more satisfied. Having booked a tour of St Petersburg with SPB tours, we decided to use them also for our visit to Warnemunde/Rostock later in our cruise.
